Okay, I just downloaded Squirrel, right? Now...I don't know where to start, and I can't find a reference on where to get started ANYWHERE. I have Windows XP, and Visual Studios 2008 Express Version, but where do I go from here?

You could try:

Under featured pages you will find EmbeddingGuide that will get you startet. I would also check out the 'C++ bindings' pages so you do not have to deal with all that low-level binding stuff.

Most developers should not expect an editor for a specific language;
Learn to use vi or emacs as the first step.
